I have always loved the whites from Chanterêves … they have a lovely balance and freshness … and a nice vivid joie de vivre feel …
Just to recap…
“Joie de vivre” is a beautiful French phrase often used to express a cheerful enjoyment of life, an exultation of spirit, and general happiness.
They are quite textbook modern white Burgundies …. and I am never in doubt when finding a white Chanterêves on the wine list … they always deliver.
… joie de vivre in the urban way
To the 2022 whites – tasted on May 30th 2024
Chanterêves Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune Les Monts de Fussey 2022
The Hautes Côtes de Beaune Les Monts de Fussey is quite generous and lively, not quite matching the magnificent Aligoté from the same vineyard. This will however match well with many lighter dishes – a nice reductive note to give a firmer grip. A lovely glass.
(Drink from 2024) – Very Good – (88-89p) –
Chanterêves Bourgogne Aligoté Mainbey 2022
The Bourgogne Aligoté Mainbey is intense. It has deep and intense fruit … quite a reductive note currently … also present in previous vintages. Has lovely balance, but will require some time to unfold.
(Drink from 2026) – Very Good – (89p) –
Chanterêves Bourgogne Aligoté Mialons du Bas 2022
Deeper and very intense … quite a strong reduction. It’s quite delicate with lively depth and balance … wow, this is a serious Aligoté. Needs a bit of time due to the reduction.
