The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Barreaux from Arnaud et Sophie is very well balanced for the vintage – well done. Made with 50% whole-cluster fruit and 30% new oak, it’s intense and deep, with fine, mineral drive; a step up from the Sirugue Vosne villages. It has tremendous intensity and a lovely balance of sweet, ripe fruit. While a bit on the dark side fruit-wise at the moment, this does have a vivid backbone of acidity and minerality. It will need some time to unfold.
