Very Fine (93 - 94)

Pol Roger, Rose 1985

By Steen Öhman August 14, 2011 -

The Rose 1985 from Pol Roger really delicious. Perfectly mature Champagne, with a very good finesse and length. Completely orange in the color, with fine mature tones both in the bouquet and on the palate. Still a wonderful freshness, one should clearly drink more mature rose champagne. (Drink now) …

Billecart Salmon, Blanc de Blanc 1982

By Steen Öhman August 11, 2011 -

The Blanc de Blanc 1982 from Billecart Salmon is a perfectly matured champagne, very nice complexity, good length and body. Rarely does one get a fully mature champagne, that has kept this level of freshness and balance. It's not a very big and heavy champagne, and not the greatest of terroir, but …

Henri Jayer, Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux 1989

By Steen Öhman August 9, 2011 -

The 1989 Cros Parantoux tasted in 2001 at Restaurant Lameloise in Chagny, actually the last bottle of Jayer we had from this cellar. The 1989 was ripe and concentrated and quite dark in the fruit expression compared to the 1988, and not quite as balanced and lush. Very good length and the typical …

Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne Romanee Aux Reignots 2008

By Steen Öhman August 3, 2011 -

The Aux Reignot 2008 is very crisp with a fantastic minerality. Pure pinot flavors, and a very crisp and refined bouquet. Medium+ body with a fine and vibrant length. I really enjoy tasting a good 2008 wine in between the heavy and quite sweet 2009 wines. Aux Reignot might not be grand cru, but it …

Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Echezeaux 2007

By Steen Öhman August 2, 2011 -

The Echezeaux 2007 from Liger-Belair has a special place in my wine memory. I'm not a big fan of the 2007 vintage, but this is a fantastic Echezeaux ... bringing back memories of the late and great Henri Jayer. Very lush and silky, with very fine tannins, medium+ body and a very good length. Love …
