Domaine Georges Glantenay is a sister-and-brother venture, with Sarah being in charge of sales and Guillaume overseeing viticulture and winemaking.
This year, it was Sarah who welcomed me, as Guillaume was occupied elsewhere. We had a fine tour through the cellars, and a beautiful view of the 2023s filling them to the brim.
Domaine Georges Glantenay is one of the top domaines in Volnay, on par with the very best estates thanks to its delightfully energetic and seductive wines. Both the 2023s and the 2022s are true delights.
The ’23s are enjoyable
The 2019s, 2020s, and 2021s have all been vivid and lively, and as the years pass, Guillaume gets better and better at his job. He has enough experience now that he feels confident in experimenting a bit.
The 2022s are a pinnacle of sorts, as they are a strong continuation of the previous years’ record of going from strength to strength. The ’23s are very good, but lack a bit of complexity compared to the 2022s. The 2023s are fresh and vivid … so, not that far behind the the lovely 2022s.
