Domaine Serafin made some very fine Gevreys in 1999 – and the Cazetiers is one of the very best in the lineup – most likely only surpassed by the great Charmes Chambertin. The Cazetiers 1999 is still quite youthful but starting to show some matured notes. In the bouquet rich red berry fruit with a quite intense earthy minearlity, sous-bois and some very slight hints of truffles. On the plate quite tight and focused for a Serafin wine – but also with the characteristic Serafin richness. It’s pure and balanced with lovely expression of the slightly muscular and edgy terroir.
