I have updated the vintage charts – and they are now covering the period from 1990 to 2014 for both the reds and the whites.
The vintage charts has been expanded, and they now include more parameters, that should help you decide what to taste, drink, cellar or even buy.
The following parameters are included:
Explanations to the vintage chart:
Rating:
The rating is as before based on the Winehog rating scale. This is to be consistent with the ratings of the individual wines.
Maturity
The maturity describe the average development of the wines – from the average good producers. Young for undeveloped, matured for the somewhat developed wine, mature for the wines that offer some mature notes, and fully mature for the wines that are at their peak. In decline is for the wines that are over their peak.
Premox (for the whites)
I have made an indication for the premox status of the vintages. I have had a few premoxed wines in 2011 and the 2010 vintage … and the worst are from the vintages in the late 1990s early 2000s. Indentified means not common, Yes means it’s a limited problem, Yes+ to Yes+++ means that there is quite a risk to encounter premoxed wines. As for the vintages before 1996 – I think the problems began earlier .. as I saw problems before the 1996 vintage – I have however not marked these vintages as premoxed.
Keep
This variable will tell you if the wine should still be cellared and matured in the cellar. It does not mean that the wine could not be tasted or even drunk with pleasure. Just that it could be cellared further under normal cool conditions.
Taste:
This is telling you if the wine could be tasted with pleasure currently. This will include the recent vintage where lesser wines can be tasted before they close down. It also include vintages that are showing well on their way to maturity .. and finally wines that are ready to drink. Or said in short .. will they bring pleasure or not.
Drink
To drink is a different matter – this means that the wine is ready to be consumed with pleasure. It does not mean that the wine will be fully mature .. see the maturity indicator .. but the wine is ready enough to be enjoyed with pleasure- and no regrets.
Recommended
Lastly the parameter recommended will show if its a vintage that I find attractive and recommendable. Most vintages are partly recommendable, some are recommendable and a few are highly recommendable currently. Only a few vintages are not recommendable seen from my palate and perspective – perhaps you feel differently.
