The Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill 1996 from Pol Roger is most likely the best Winston I have tasted. In the bouquet very classic blanc de blanc with hay, apple, white bread/yeast and notes of fresh hazelnuts. Still very young and slightly closed. On the palate very focused with a fantastic mid-palate concentration and vinosity for a Winston. Lovely fresh fruit with aromas of apple, melon and notes of hazelnuts and citrus. Very refined with excellent length and balance thanks to a magnificent acidity. A outstanding Champagne – Cheers Winston!
