Domaine Simon Bize in Savigny-les-Beaune produces beautiful wines from Savigny’s terroirs, but is a bit overlooked as regards the grands crus, where few know its Latricieres-Chambertin or the perhaps even lesser-known Corton-Charlemagne.
This is both unfair and sad, as I find especially the Corton-Charlemagne to be one of the most intriguing and complex wines from the Corton hill.
As one of the top Corton-Charlemagnes uniquely from the Pernand-Vergelesses side of the appellation, it has a different stance to wines from the warmer terroirs on the southern side of the famous hill.
So let’s dive into the Pernand side.

Domaine Simon Bize acquired its grand cru on the Corton hill in 1997, further enhancing the fame and visibility of this fine estate. Its Corton-Charlemagne is located 100% in Pernand Vergeleses’ lieu-dit En Charlemagne.
