Burgundy is all about terroirs and vineyard holdings, and many talented wine makers are limited by the vineyards they own and financial opportunities to rent or buy great vineyards.
It is therefore lovely to see when new generations take over a plot of one of the great vineyards – in this case the perhaps best located plot in Romanée Saint-Viviant – just below Romanée-Conti.
I am of course talking the plot of the Poisot family .. where Remi Poisot a former navy Captain now has gone ashore and has since 2010 taken over his fathers holdings – and is now running his own estate located in Aloxe-Corton.
Current ownership overview for Romanée Saint-Vivant
Setting the scene – there are currently 10 owners of Romanée Saint-Vivant – with Louis-Latour being the 3rd largest owner and the Poisot family remaining with 0.4899 ha. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the dominant owner with 5.3 ha – i.e. more than 55% of the 9.44 ha.
