One of the new special cuvées in Burgundy is the Echezeaux “Cuvée 1949” made by Alix Millot of Domaine Jean-Marc Millot.
It’s a special cuvée made from the Echezeaux vineyard – or more precisely from the Echezeaux Dessus section – from a plot with very old wines.
Lets take a closer look at the Echezeaux “Cuvée 1949” .. first made in the vintage 2017.
Wine and people
Alix Millot is the new head of Domaine Jean-Marc Millot, and although she is running the estate with her father Jean-Marc – it’s pretty clear that Alix is more and more in charge. I would however like to underline that the Domaine Jean-Marc Millot first and foremost is teamwork between father and daughter .. very nice people indeed.
The idea of the Echezeaux “Cuvée 1949” does however seam to originate from Alix Millot .. and she was also the one who presented the cuvée when I tasted the wine in May 2018.
