Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts is a beautiful vineyard, and one of the gems of Vosne-Romanée is the elegant and refined Petit-Monts from Maison Joseph Drouhin.
Or should I say the wine of Véronique Drouhin – as she like her siblings have her own special wine within the large Drouhin portfolio.

Maison Joseph Drouhin is in my view among the very best of the large negociants in Burgundy these days.
Drouhin is still a negotiant business – but the core of this family business is clearly a large estate with own vineyards – where the care of the vineyards – biodynamically – and the winemaking is seen holistically with a certain quality level and style as objectives.
For one the fact that they early on embraced Biodynamic viticulture secondly as they still are family owned and managed – with Véronique Drouhin responsible for the vinification, her brother Philippe Drouhin is responsible for the vineyards and the biodynamic approach, Frédéric Drouhin is the manager or COO of Drouhin and Laurent Drouhin is responsible for the important US market. Finally their father Robert Drouhin is still a part of this fine family business.

Vosne-Romanée Les Petits-Monts
Petits-Monts is a medium size 1er cru – in total 3.67 ha – located above Richebourg – going from the top of the grand crus to the top of the hill – see map below.
The plots of Maison Drouhin
The Drouhin plots are located mid-slope in each end of the Les Petits-Monts, one in the southern end – just below the Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair plot. The other plot is located in the northern towards the Cros Parantoux vineyard.
