Chateau Montrose 1961

The Montrose 1961 was strangely undeveloped in both bouquet and palate. Not a lot of tertiary aromas in the bouquet, but rather aloof with a strong core of dark fruit. On the palate also on the austere side, with quite prominent and still unresolved tannins, dark fruits and a relatively strong acidity. This wine seemed very undeveloped, and I really don’t think it will ever open up, and be charming and extrovert. Have tasted this wine before in 2006 with the same result. A fine wine, but sadly quite austere and with rather limited complexity.
