The wines are now more precise and detailed and the intensity of the recent vintages also suits the style of the estate – in my view bringing both weight and focus on the mid-palate.
The 2016 vintage at Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat
Charles Van Canneyt explained that they lost 30% compared to a normal harvest – a loss that is quite moderate compared to other growers in Chambolle-Musigny!
Yes – Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is actually registered as being located in Chambolle-Musigny, despite that the majority of the vineyards are in Vosne-Romanée and the estate buildings er located in the village of Vougeot – although in the Chambolle end of Vougeot.
The harvest in 2016 began on September 24th, and while there were some loss of harvest due to the frost – the two top wines – the Romanée Saint-Vivant and the Richebourg escaped un-damaged by the frost. The Clos de Vougeot and the Chambolle-Musigny wines did however suffer from the April frost quantity wise.
