Great news for fans of good food and wine: Domaine Prieuré-Roch has just opened a new restaurant located at the top of its estate in Premeaux-Prissy, overlooking the magnificent Les Argillieres vineyard.

The new restaurant is a new and very seriously reinvented version of the delightful, much-missed Bist’Roch that closed almost two years ago.

The name of the place is Premnord, and the restaurant is located in a sweet spot in some of the very best vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges/Premeaux.

This new restaurant is a perfect tribute to the late Henry-Frédéric Roch, the founder of Domaine Prieuré-Roch and a legendary character and inventor in the wine business – and a renowned gourmand.

Personally, I like the slight bit of Bist’Roch character at the outdoor serving, without losing the excellent service and wine list the client-focused staff is offering at Premnord.

Culinary delights in Premeaux

Speaking as a foodie and culinary geek, we really needed something new around Nuits-Saint-Georges. I have been looking forward to this new restaurant as a kind of renewal of the local gastronomic scene.

The kitchen is led by chef de cuisine Céline Dedinger, who was the last chef at the old Bist’Roch. A brilliant choice. Not only does Céline produce great food, she also has the potential and talent to raise the level further.

The food is classic French, but often with an Asian twist. While not very spicy (it almost never is in France), it does have an edge that makes you want to come again – and again.

I hope Céline will let loose a bit more, as particularly the Asian flavours give a lift to the otherwise fairly monotonous cuisine of the area. Seeing restaurateur friends from Soleil in Savigny-les-Beaune and Rade in Beaune confirms my confidence in this new place.

To give it its due: This is food d’émotion!

The wine

Gaël Saunie, head sommelier, is responsible for getting the wine in the cup. The list is close to legendary and very impressive; I am sure he will manage it well.
