The Richebourg 2005 from Thibault Liger-Belair is a dense and intense wine. The bouquet starts out with almost Bordeuax like notes of cassis and liqourice. After some time more complex fruit notes with dark cherries and forrest berries appear under the dense sweet cassis. On the palate dense and sweet fruit with a quite lovely minerality and acidity. It might be a dense and quite heavy wine – but it’s somehow still quite lightfooted with a good intensity from the powerful terroir. Somewhat monolithic and dense – (14% alcohol) – and lacking some transparancy and vibrancy in the fruit. Slightly disappointing – but nevertheless fine and will be quite enjoyable after 10 to 15 years in the cellar.

- Visit to Thibault Liger-Belair – tasting the 2019sThibault Liger-Belair is a vigneron I have followed since 2004 – his third vintage, I think. While the wines were good – it took quite many years before the wines began to give me a great hedonistic thrill. In recent years I have wondered more and more about the work Thibault is doing and the wines ...
- Vineyard Insight: Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Saint-GeorgesOne of the most controversial vineyards in Burgundy these years is Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges. By some seen as the best vineyard of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, and a cadidate for promotion to grand cru .. others see it as a good 1er cru but perhaps not among the very top terroirs in Nuits-Saint-Georges. - Villages vines from the Vosne twilight zone – Aux RéasThere are a lot of interesting terroirs in the Vosne-Romanee appellation itself and in the twillight zone between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanee. This area is somewhat overlooked, but as the new generations of vignerons take on these terroirs, there are very fine wines to find from these vineyards. The twillight zone … around the border between Vosne and ...
