Chanson, Chambertin Clos des Beze 1957

By Steen Öhman October 21, 2018 -

The Chanson 1957 Chambertin Clos de Beze is fully mature, and has been so for some time. The nose is still fresh with quite some fruit, sous-bois and roasted coffee. On the palate lovely balance and still with a rather lovely mature fruit - doing very well for the vintage indeed - rather impressive …

Value Increase – Romanée-Conti 1945

By Steen Öhman October 20, 2018 -

The likely last sale of a Romanée-Conti 1945 was in 2011, when Christies sold a bottle in Geneva on 17 May at a price of 109350 CHF. Compared to this weekends sale the 111000 USD in 2011 does look rather pale. The 558000 USD is just a notch more the 5 times the price achieved in Geneva. I …

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses 2007

By Steen Öhman October 19, 2018 -

The 2007 Les Amoureuses is very forward ... showing all the talents so to speak. The nose is brimming with sweet red fruit - expressive and lively ... with a fine limestone acidity in the background. On the palate medium weight but lacking both some weight and substance compared to the 2008. A bit …

Vineyard Insight: Pommard Clos de la Commaraine

By Steen Öhman October 19, 2018 -

Comte Louis-Michel Liger-Belair of Chateau de Vosne-Romanée has just entered an agreement with the owners of Pommard Clos de la Commaraine to help with the making the wine from this historic 3.75 ha monopole vineyard. This does set this vineyard on the map in a different way - first vintage is …

Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, Echezeaux 2009

By Steen Öhman October 17, 2018 -

The 2009 Echezeaux is starting to unfold, and shed the somewhat austere and slightly reductive note. Now is starting to sing - the bouquet is blessed with lovely ripe and delicate red fruits. Plenty of Vosne spices and a strong mineral impression - a bit darker than the Reignots 2009 perhaps. On the …
