Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, La Tâche 2011

I first tasted the La Tâche 2011 from cask in March 2013, and was very impressed – a delightful wine for the vintage.

Actually I was slightly nervous to have been a bit too optimistic regarding the 2011s from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – but actually I still feel delighted tasting the 2011 La Tâche.

The fruit is ample, vivid and lively with a love energy and depth. Clearly not with the weight and concentration of 2015 and 2016, but still with a lovely concentration and matching and even surpassing wines like Malconsort 2011 from Cathiard and 2013 Malconsort Christiane from Montille. The La Tâche is quite forward with the fruit well integrated, yet not unfolding like the Cathiard Malconsort 2011 – the Tâche is a bigger wine, yet I would drink the Cathiard today letting the Tâche mature further, although it’s showing beautifully even currently. Really love the fruit in this wine, and would imagine this improving depth and complexity with around 10 years of additional cellaring.
