“Taille tot, taille tard, rien ne vaut la taille de mars” is an old saying (Prune early or prune late, nothing’s as good as pruning in March)!.
We now have March 3rd, and both DRC, Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, and not surprisingly Domaine Leroy still have the top vineyards left unpruned.
The tendency is later pruning, which is confirmed by Louis-Michel Liger-Belair. Now the big estates actually all start in March (very late February) before they prune.
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Here both La Tâche, Romanée Saint-Vivant is currently being pruned, whereas Romanée-Conti has not been pruned yet.

Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair
La Romanée has not been pruned yet whereas Aux Reignots was pruned earlier today.

Pre-pruning was according to Louis-Michel Liger-Belair made everywhere except La Romanee. The final pruning began this morning (March 3rd).
Liger-Belair will wait for the next good moon for La Romanée, later this month, as it helps to delay, a bit, the budbreak.
Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair have tried to make late pruning since 2016… but tries to do later and later year by year! according to Louis-Michel Liger-Belair.
The frost in 2016 and 2021 was really doing a lot of damage to the Vosne vineyards.
Domaine Leroy
Domaine Leroy is pruning the lesser vineyards but still has to do Richebourg and RSV.

Domaine Arnaux Lachaux
Charles Lachaux tell me that they will do a second pruning of Romanée Saint-Vivant later in March – “the RSV hasn’t been pruned yet, we have shorten the branches only”.
