The Vosne Romanee La Croix Rameau 2002 from Lamarche is slightly austere and seems over oaked. In the nose quite floral red fruit notes and a dominant tone of oak. On the palate quite lean fruit – with a quite strong impression of oak. The midpalate fruit is quite ok, but it’s short and the finish is somewhat dry from what seems to be excessive oak. Bottom line – more oak and most likely also higher yields than I prefer … sadly not really a pleasure – disappointing for the vintage.
