Marsannay is an interesting area with a lot of good wines with quite some variation terroir-wise. Domaine Jean Fournier is in my view one of the best interpreters of the Marsannays … and produces some really lovely wines – both white and reds.
Laurent Fournier is a cheerful vigneron, and the wines reflect his spirit … enjoyable without getting too technical.

The wines are in general affordable for a Burgundy standard … the whites give a lot of pleasure when drunk young, with their freshness intact, and in cooler years the do also age quite well. Extensive cellaring require a cool cellar … but in general I prefer my white Fournier young … but this is just me.
Domaine Jean Fournier Aligoté Champ Forey 2023
Fresher and more vivid than the 2022 … most likely due to the high yields … its a fresh and léger wine … would say the same level as the 2022 … not diluted just lightfooted and delicate.

Domaine Jean Fournier Marsannay 2023
Rich and generous with the 10% new oak giving the wine some strucutur. A vin de soift in the best sence … drink it young … spring and summer lunches. Very open and forward style wise.
(Drink From 2025) – Very Good (88p) –
Domaine Jean Fournier Aligoté Champ Forey 2022
The 2022 Champ Forey is rich and quite intense … it is delicate … deep and generous with a nice phenolic ripeness. … weighty but still juicy … classic Aligoté with an impression of old wines.
