Vosne-Romanée is brimming with new names and talents. OK, that’s perhaps a bit on the overly-enthusiastic-journalist side, but new talents and domaines are actually turning up at a regular pace. This is good in a quiet place like Vosne.
One is Confuron-Gindre, where the son, Edouard Confuron, is getting involved! I see constant and genuine progress here … the hedonistic scores are improving … you know, the hearts.

Edouard Confuron (a member of the big Confuron family) is from the relatively low-profile Confuron-Gindre estate that is located just below La Grande Rue, next to Domaine Méo-Camuzet. Edouard is working with his father,
The relatively traditional style has been lightened: less new oak, less sulphur during vinification and more use of whole-cluster grapes. This is nothing magical or revolutionary. However, if the wines have been basically sound (grape-wise), then even modest changes can sometimes do wonders.

Domaine Confuron-Gindre Bourgogne 2023
Quite lively and vivid … 2023 suits the style of the estate well. Nice saline note and a lively acidity. Well made.

Domaine Confuron-Gindre Vosne-Romanée 2023
Like many other Vosne estates, this comes from a cornucopia of small plots. This is beautiful, and the fair share of whole cluster (20% in most cuvées) is giving a lively wine. Always the question … but while this combination of plots might not give the most precise Vosne, it does somehow give a fulfilling wine with quite a lot of hedonistic pleasure.

Domaine Confuron-Gindre Nuits-Saint-Georges 2023
This is made from vines older than 50 years in Aux Allots, Aux Herbues, and Aux Lavières. A bit of Nuits darkness with the 2023 liveliness. This does show very well. So, not only Vosne!

Domaine Confuron-Gindre Gevrey-Chambertin 2023
