Jean Max comes from the village of Charnay, in the very heart of the Beaujolais region known for its golden stone vineyards.
Jean Max worked for a year and a half at Domaine de la Soufrandière, with the Bret Brothers, learning the art of winemaking from a technical standpoint, mastering it to perfection. It’s a refined craft, presented in a gastronomic format.
On his website he also express his gratitude to the Thillardon family, the Saint Cyr family, the Texier family, the Métras family, and the Bret family for their support.
2024 is his 7th vintage. and he now cultivate 3.8 hectares in the southern Beaujolais region.
He has put down the roots in Lachassagne Grand Terroir, primarily for white wines, but not only that; the clay soils on the eastern side promise a beautiful Gamay.

The Wine
Jean Max LÉxt´hase 2023
Gamay – Maceration carbonic and without sulpher … very purely made, with beautiful berry flawours – no vinificational issues – very well made with the pure flavours indication fine sorting. Elevage on oak.
The wine is pure, tantalisingly delicate, open and expressive. Not extremely complex – that’s really not the purpose – but it has enough complexity and delicacy to be interesting.
a delightfully airy and light Beaujolais … floating over my palate running through your veins. Not a big scaled wine … “just a joyful vin d`émotion” … feeling blessed with a effortless vin de soif.
Bravo!

- A true vin d’émotion – a Burgundy of passion
- A truly hedonistic wine – lively and enjoyable
- A vivacious wine for pure indulgance
- A potential vin d´émotion - frais et léger
