Jean-Marie Guffens is for me one of the greatest winemakers and personalities in the world today. While we have many good vignerons we only have very few true personalities.
Your talent is totally unmatched in the southern Burgundy … the feel of effortless control and delight … no issues with overripe phenolics … a problem that seem to tarnich more than 50% of the white Macons these days.
Give me a Guffens … a cool place to enjoy the terroir … and I will be in my happy place … drunk perhaps … but in a very joyful place – after the second or third bottle … as lust takes over from strict sanity.
I struggle to find whites that can match the effortless joy of a good Guffens … when will others learn.
Thanks to Jean-Marie Guffens there is still wild and untamed friends in the wine business that are not all marketing … and overripe Chardonnay
