The classical Le Montrachet in Puligny-Montrachet has been modernised. updated and given a big vitality boost. It has always been a safe haven for the classical upper-class French kitchen. For years on the border of 1 star … but with the update, this is surely one star level … and with pleasure and style.
My guess would be that there are … and should be … two-star ambitions, as the ambience certainly treats you well.
The food is stylish and quite fragrant—classical 1-star international French that will please all guests with its good taste.
The wine list is very fine in the main Côte de Beaune areas, but Champagne and other areas are more sparsely represented. But what would I want and expect? We are in the core of white Burgundy—this is what you drink for lunch.
Highly recommended for lunch … need to test the evening service.
