The wines of Domaine Leroy are extraordinary in every sense of the word, and Mme Bize-Leroy has for decades been one of the leading and most progressive producers in the region.
A lot of producers find inspiration to take their wines to another level by looking at the things Mme Bize-Leroy have done to improve quality.
One of the more visible things is the viticulture in the top end vineyards of Domaine Leroy and Domaine d’Auvernay where the trimming of the wines is done in a rather special way.
During my June 2017 trip to Burgundy I took a small tour de Grand Cru to look at the Domaine Leroy viticulture to see the difference between the more traditional approach and the Domaine Leroy viticulture.

I took the trip from Chambolle Musigny to the southern part of Vosne-Romanée and I passed by the Musigny plots of Domaine Leroy as well as the Romanée Saint-Vivant and Richebourg plots – to check the viticulture.
