I am slowly but surely getting on top of the 2024 whites. And I must say … what a treat. The wines are delightfully balanced, cool in style … reminding me of good vintages of the past. Would we call the wines classic? I would say yes, though there are some comments one needs to attach to this.
For me, the 2024s are more attractive than the monolithic and acidity-driven 2021s. They have this classic style, but with a slightly generous twist … a hint that makes them charming and desirable.
These are not 2014 block buster classics … they are not the sexy 2019s, and they are not the slightly bombastic 2020s … they are the 2024s, and they aim to please in a refined way.
How big are they? How good is the vintage? I am optimistic here, and knowing that few people cellar the wines for 10, 20, or 30 years, we have a winner in the 2024 vintage.
Not the best vintage ever, but it aims to please … in a cool and elegant way, despite the difficult conditions.

Let’s face it, Coffinet Duvernay is a treat and rapidly moving forward in the rankings.

Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay Chassagne-Montrachet Chassagne Village 2024
The Chassagne village has a very nice balance. Delicate fruit that is slightly perfumed with a lovely, elegant Chassagne note.
(Drink from 2027) – Very Good – (88-89p) – ![]()
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay Chassagne-Montrachet Blanchots Dessus 2024
From a village terroir just below Criot Bâtard-Montrachet. Vivid and lively … best buy with a lovely mineral note. Around 25% new oak …. delicate et light with lovely fruit. Has good intensity and a larger-than-village-life personality … a unique village … spiced with Grand Cru Criots. Give it a bit of time.
(Drink from 2030) – Fine – (91p) – ![]()
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay Chassagne-Montrachet Chassagne Les Grands Clos 2024
Big, rich, and somewhat on the clumsy side currently … sorry
(Drink from 2030) – Very Good – (89p)
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay Chassagne-Montrachet Les Fairendes 2024
Smoky … delicate. 85-year-old wines. Delicate fennel note … a lovely oldie.
(Drink from 2030) – Fine – (91p)
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroie 2024
Very effortless and delicate, but intense … a bit on the expressive side. The 2024s are just delightful with their coolish elegance. Are they cool ? Yes, but with charm.
(Drink from 2032) – Fine – (92p)
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay Chassagne-Montrachet Les Blanchots-Dessus 2024
Blanchots Dessus is a great terroir, and Coffinet-Duvernay makes a lovely wine from the bottom of this vineyard. It has some Grand Cru similarities … very powerful, but I think Bastien is taming the brute perfectly … a delight.
(Drink from 2035) – Very Fine – (93-94p) – ![]()
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay Chassagne-Montrachet Le Cailleret 2024
The Cailleret is one of my favorite vineyards in Chassagne. Perfect phenolic ripeness … quite reductive currently … it’s vivid and fresh on the midpalate … wow, I adore the 2024s.
