It is always a treat to visit Nicolas Groffier, and in 2023, he has made a home run. The 2023s are even more precise, energetic, and vivid than the 2022s; they underline the strength of the 2023 vintage.
Nicolas Groffier has produced lovely wines in both of these vintages, however, when it comes down to hedonistic preferences, it seems like the 2023s have the edge with their vivid and lively character.
A lot can be said about this fine estate and its prominent wines, and I certainly had plenty to say about them in these previous articles:

Groffier has entered the major leagues where the wines are increasingly costly. That said, the wines’ increasing quality matches the rise in prices– if there was a formula for these kinds of calculations.
The Groffier ’23s were tasted on October 16, 2024.
Domaine Robert Groffier Passetoutgrain 2023
The Passetoutgrain is quite intense and powerful. 25% Gamay and with quite a Gamay tone. Lovely vin de soif – the freshness of 2023 eases the drinking. A treat.

Domaine Robert Groffier Bourgogne Rouge 2023
The Bourgogne Rouge is, as always, showing very well. Two-thirds of the fruit is from vineyards below the Clos de Vougeot, and the wine is lovely and generous. It’s deep and intense for this level. It’s fresher with a lovely playfulness. As always, the extraction is moderate and perfectly judged given the ripeness level.
