The 2023 wines from Millot are as expected. They are quite lively with a relatively lightfooted appearance.
They are more openly knit than the 2022s presumably because the yield is higher in 2023s and this is reflected in the structure of the wine.
The vintage 2023 sometimes lacks a bit of outright intensity and detail. But that said, they ensure you can lean back and enjoy the ride; these are my kind of wines. The Winehog like the hedonistic element – fine drinkability and juicyness. I don’t need wines to remind me of the complexity of everyday life. Give me some 2023!
Alix Millot has unsurprisingly made fine ’23s, although I somehow feel the 2022s are a bit stronger points-wise at this estate. They are both vintages to enjoy and are rarely overly detailed or complex.

Are they as good as the 2019s? No probably not … as the character of the 2023s is different: openly knit and quite energetic … wines of vividness.
The beauty is there even in the lesser wines, so let’s taste and enjoy.
Domaine Jean-Marc Millot Bourgogne Rouge 2023
The Bourgogne Rouge is a vivid treat. It’s quite fulfilling, with nice intensity – less so than the 2022 though. It has a nice freshness and purity for the level. A vin de soif, so drink it young. Drink it now! Bottled in the summer 2024 (what summer??)!

Domaine Jean-Marc Millot Côte de Nuits Village Le Vaucrain 2022
The Côte de Nuits Vaucrain is a 100% whole-cluster wine, and furthermore very low on sulphur. It’s a relatively new trial from Millot, creating a wine with a different aroma profile and drinkability. The 2023 vintage is not quite at the same level as 2022. A lovely wine although the openly knit style of 2023 does suit the style of Vaucrain less as the core of the fruit is less focused.

Domaine Jean-Marc Millot Côte de Nuits Village Aux Falques 2022
Aux Falques is located in the centre of Comblanchien (more about the terroir here). It is deeper and more focused than the Côte de Nuits Villages – with some darker fruits on the nose and palate. 30% whole cluster does give it a lovely feel … A lovely wine.
(Drink from 2029) – Very Good (89-90p) –
Domaine Jean-Marc Millot Savigny-les-Beaune 2022
Alix really nailed the Savigny-les-Beaune in 2023 – just lovely, showing elegant, lively fruit with plenty of energy. I really like the midpalate intensity … refined, and with a vivacious core of red fruit. A wine that suits 2023 well.
