One of my favourite 1er crus of Burgundy is the Aux Reignots made by Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, a tremendous wines of a very high quality.
Louis-Michel Liger-Belair controls 45% of the Aux Reignots vineyard, that extends just above his prestigious monopole La Romanee – and his quest for quality has really pushed the perception of Aux Reignots in the minds of the Burgundy collectors.
Aux Reignots at the top of La Romanee
Aux Reignots is located just above La Romanee between Les Petits Monts to the north and Champs Perdrix to the south – see map below.
The Aux Reignots vineyard is 1.62 ha – split in 20 plots and there are currently 10 owners on the vineyard.
It should be mentioned that the size of Aux Reignots has been relatively constant over the years, Lavalle (1855)1 mention the area as 1,6695 ha … very close to the current area.
The current ownership of Vosne-Romanee Aux Reignots
My research show that there are 10 owners on Aux Reignots currently … but the ownership could be even more fragmented within the different families.
