The road from Chaux to Nuits-Saint-Georges is steep and apparently difficult, as a Range Rover recently decided to skid off it, ending up downslope in one of Axelle Marchand de Gramont’s vineyards.
Vineyards are the product of years, decades, and lifetimes of work, and Axelle’s father Bertrand Machard de Gramont has worked for many years establishing the plot in Les Hauts Pruliers. This vineyard was planted in 1965 (the year of the ‘Hog).
And now some of the vines in the parcel have sadly been broken or even destroyed by one man’s carelessness. They will take years to replace. Luckily, no one was working in the vineyard at the time.

The vineyard – Les Hauts Pruliers
Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Hauts Pruliers is located above Les Pruliers and Les Crots.
It’s a vineyard located just south of the town of Nuits – i.e. on the Premeaux side.
Repair viticulture
Axelle and her staff are now working on repairing the vines that are salvageable, and replacing those 50-year-old vines that are too damaged to save.
