Vin de soif: I use this term carefully, as it expresses an opinion about both drinkability and complexity.
A grand cru from a great producer and vintage will often have substantial complexity and depth that require reflection and a deeper interpretation of the hedonistic side. A wine such as this is demanding, and deserves your full, focused attention – it’s a vin d’émotion, and a love affair.
A vin de soif requires just your indulgence – more like a summer fling. It is mainly for enjoyment, but does not require your full, ongoing attention.
The 2019 Fournier Bourgogne Rouge Côte d’Or is just such a vin de soif.

The Baie-par-Baie wines from 2025 are beyond this world … this is actually what we need …to be seduced out of this planet. Domaine Pierre Olivier Garcia … what a treat

Try google 😉 …

Domaine Fournier Bourgogne Rouge Côte d’Or 2019
Light-footed, with a hint of cherries and a base of raspberries and wild strawberries, this shows lovely freshness and vivacity. Airy and energetic, given its substance it is quite a delicate wine. Complex? Not really; but a real vin de soif. This ’19 really has the ability to show off. One more bottle, s’il vous plaît!
