Burgundy for collectors and other geeks is about sorting and picking the right producers and the very best wines. It is always a balance, as top-end producers often make both very good wines and some less interesting wines, to say it bluntly.
Domaine Armand Rousseau produces a range of truly magnificent wines, all of very high quality, as there are no longer weaker cuvees and wines, but still, some wines are better than others.

Some of the vineyards do not have the ceppage and or the terroir to win the big championship, meaning that the complexity, focus and livelyness of the wines are very good, but the emotional qualities are not erupting in cascades from the wines, and they seem to struggle to reach the top of these terroirs. In the end, not all plots have the ceppage – the clone, the massale – to be great regardless of age.
Remember – this is a matter of preferences and taste …. but here are my top-end Armand Rousseau wines.
