Good Value #1 – Chateau Le Grand Verdus 2007

By Steen Öhman January 21, 2012 -

Le Grand Verdus is a Bordeaux Superiuere priced at around 10 USD (60 to 70 Danish Kroner). It's not a big and complex wine, but an honest budget Bordeaux. I really like it's classical Bordeaux tannins, no overripe tannins here. The flavors and aromas are typical for the area - rare to find at this …

Chateau Suduiraut 1990

By Steen Öhman January 17, 2012 -

The 1990 Suduiraut is a very nice mature Sauternes. The bouquet has a good balance of dried fruit and caramel notes. On the palate very good sweetness and concentration, a good length and balance. The flavors are rich with dried fruits and caramel. It has a wonderful creamy texture, thus making it a …

Chateau Suduiraut 1989

By Steen Öhman January 16, 2012 -

The 1989 Suduiraut is very developed. In the bouquet burnt caramel, alcohol and botrytis. On the palate very heavy caramel and botrytis notes. Still the wine lacks concentration and focus, and has a hollow watery finish. Is now in decline on half bottle, and should have been consumed 5 to 10 years …

Chateau Suduiraut 1986

By Steen Öhman January 15, 2012 -

The 1986 Suduiraut has a quite undeveloped color compared to the 1989 and 1990 from the same producer. The bouquet is however quite devleoped with marzipan and acetone notes. On the palate quite moderate sweetness a good acidity and focus. Slightly high on the alcohol, but still fresh with good …

Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 1978

By Steen Öhman November 14, 2011 -

The Ducru-Beaucaillou 1978 was fully mature and a pleasure to drink - a classic claret. The bouquet was very open with cedar, some tobacco and cassis. On the palate resolved tannins medium body good balance, and still some fruit left. Not a big wine for tasting, but a fine mature claret for drinking …
