Very Good (88 - 90)

Philippe Pacalet, Pommard Les Arvelets 2011

By Steen Öhman June 10, 2013 -

The 2011 Pacalet Pommard Arvelets is slightly closed at the moment. In the bouquet notes of cherries and forest strawberries - slightly candied and dusty - rather refined and understated. On the palate rich and ripe red fruit - a juicy midpalate intensity with a nice fruit supported by quite a lot …

Comte Lafon, Meursault Clos de la Barre 2000

By Steen Öhman June 3, 2013 -

The 2000 Meursault Clos de la barre from Comte Lafon is now reaching maturity. In the bouquet mature yellow fruit, with notes of pear, with hints of peaches and almonds and citrus. On the palate it's rich and round - expressive and purem - with a quite good balance from the acidity. It's not a wine …

Comte Lafon, Meursault Clos de la Barre 2009

By Steen Öhman May 28, 2013 -

The 2009 Meursault Clos de la Barre from Comte Lafon is exotic but still quite understated and fresh compared to a lot of other 09s. Slightly reduced in the nose with some exotic orchard fruits, citrus infused minerality and a slight hint of gun powder. On the palate quite rich exotic yellow fruit, …

Philippe Pacalet, Nuits-Saint-Georges 2011

By Steen Öhman May 22, 2013 -

The Nuits-Saint-Georges 2011 is a lovely combination of Pacalets organic style and the robust Nuits-Saint-Georges terroir. In the bouquet redberry fruit - rapsberries, blueberries - with a slight hint of liquorice. The palate is blessed with a rich red berry fruit - layers of strawberries, …

Domaine Dupont-Tisserandot, Gevrey Chambertin VV 2011

By Steen Öhman May 7, 2013 -

It seems like I have underestimated the Gevrey Chambertin VV from Dupont-Tisserandot when I tasted it from cask back in October 2012. This is a gorgeous village - the bouquet is crammed with cool red fruit - cherries, pomegranate with hints of ruhbarb and gooseberries - and a lovely earthy …
