Back at Alexandrine Roy in Gevrey-Chambertin to do an interview, and at the same time we had the chance to retaste the now-bottled 2025s
Alexandrine always bottles early … and the 2025s were bottled on August 25th and 26th just before Alexandrine began her 2026 harvest.
The 2025s bottled
The 2025s are now bottled, and this has tightened up the wines a bit … more complexity is appearing, and the definition is better, especially in the white and the Alexandrine.
As mentioned before, the 2025s and Domaine Marc Roy are a match made in heaven. Actually, 2025 is a tremendous year for Pinot Noir in Burgundy … just enjoy.
It’s perhaps too early to say, but my feeling is that the 2025s are one of the very best vintages I have tasted after global warming showed its hyper-generous style in my glass.
Better than 2019? Perhaps… I think one needs to go back to 2010 to find a better vintage of red Burgundies. I do find the coolness in 2025 very interesting and appealing.
Alexandrine really nailed the vintage… so let’s go to the notes.

Some history of the Marc Roy estate
Alexandrine is the fourth generation at the domaine, and she is running the estate with her father, Marc Roy, who is still very active in the vineyards.
They may only produce village wines, but nevertheless this is one of my favourite estates in Burgundy, and it proves that even serious collectors should be able to find great pleasure from a village-level wine.
Alexandrine made her debut as winemaker with the 2003 vintage, and has over the years refined her wines to be some of the most vibrant, delicate Gevrey village wines made today.
I was blown away the first time I tasted her wines, and my tasting each year subsequently confirms my passion for them.
Alexandrine makes four village reds from Gevrey and a Marsannay blanc. All are magnificent in their own way and style. They are all pure, airy and intense, but still quite light-footed and filigreed for these appellations.
An inspirational view
As something new, I have started to ask about the current favorite wines and vintages of the vigneron. The purpose is to get inspiration from what the vigneron drinks … hence revealing some of the preferences – as inspiration to you as a reader.
I even ask about favorite wines from other producers … white and red just as inspiration …

Tasting the Marc Roy 2025s
Here are all the Marc Roy wines … including the otherwise unknown Bourgogne Rouges,
Domaine Marc Roy Marsannay Blanc 2025
The Marc Roy plot is in Marsannay’s Les Champs Perdrix, located at the southern end of Couchey at the top of the slope. The 2025 is generous and quite lively … acidity is good, offering a lovely freshness. Phenolic ripeness is very fine … giving the wine a fine balance and energy. Compared to before bottling, we have more focus in the wine – and it could even go with lighter dishes. A beautiful wine for the culinary scene.
(Drink from 2027) – Very Good+ (90p) – Tasted 24/09/2026 – ![]()
Domaine Marc Roy Bourgogne Rouges 2025
Never tasted the Bourgogne Rouge before … so a first-time tasting of this magnificent generic Burgundy. A lovely and expressive wine … very much Gevrey-Chambertin flavours in this lovely Bourgogne Rouge; wow, it’s good for this level. A bit tigherter after bottling but a truly lovely Bourgogne rouge.
