Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg, Echezeaux 2009

Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg is one of the gems in Vosne Romanee. The Echezeaux from Mugneret-Gibourg comes from two parcels: Les Rouges du Bas et Les Quartiers de Nuits, both with a deep soil consisting of gravel and silt.

The 2009 vintage of the Echezeaux is a real beauty. The bouquet is showing fine, delicate red and dark fruit – raspberries, with notes of cherries and liquorice. The palate is rich, with ripe and refined pinot fruit. The wine is very well balanced and without the dense expression of fruit found in many 2009 wines. The fruit is lush and rich but still fresh, nuanced and vibrant. Not the most mineralic Echezeaux, but very subtle, charming and focused. A true pleasure – and a top end Echezeaux.
