Domaine Ponsot, Clos de la Roche 2003

The Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche 2003 is a unique wine. Late harvest and 2003 does not sound like the recipe for succes, but Laurent Ponsot has nevertheless succeded in making a very balanced and enjoyable 2003 Clos de la Roche. The nose offer raspberries, rhubarb coulis and strawberries slightly perfumed … combined with a fine but rather dusty minerality … still quite young and vibrant. On the palate big, velvet and surprisingly refined for the vintage with a nice balancing acidity. A big and enjoyable wine … quite lightfooted for the vintage .. but nevertheless a 03 at heart. Will most likely drink well over the next several decades …
