Passion, talent and pride make wines and sell wines. A winemaker without passion and talent rarely if ever produces emotional wines … and to think talent is enough, one would be mistaken … passion and the will to go that extra mile to achieve greatness is what separates the great from the good.
And then finally we have pride …. often forgotten … but a vigneron has to believe in his wines, himself … to sometimes take chances and to promote his wines with pride and honesty – important in the market today.

My visit to Domaine Jean-Luc Burguet (formerly Alain Burguet) in Gevrey Chambertin was one of the most positive tasting I have had in 2023. Jean-Luc Burguet is a delightful, thoughtful and first and foremost cheerful vigneron who makes beautiful and hedonistic Pinots … just the way I like them … in the 2023 vintage the wines of Jean-Luc Burguet is smiling at you from rapidly emptying stems.
The wines here are on the lightfooted side and enjoyable without the Gevrey darkness or excessive seriousness … they are perfectly extracted … making them very appealing and with a lovely hedonistic expression.
Viticulture is organic and has been following biodynamic procedures for some years … so all is in place.
To the wines!
Domaine Jean-Luc Burguet Les Pince Vin 2023
The Bourgogne Rouges Les Pince Vin is a lovely entry-level Burgundy with fine energy and a nice concentration … refined and represents the estate style very well … i.e. refined and low sulphured wines … enjoyable wines.
(Drink From 2025) – Very Good (87p) –
Domaine Jean-Luc Burguet Gevrey-Chambertin Symphonie 2023
The Gevrey Symphonie is from the area below and under the national road with vineyards like La Justice and Billiard. It’s elegant, saline .. with a very refined and delicate fruit – impressive and delightful. What a treat with the refinement and delicacy!
(Drink From 2030) – Very Good (89-90p) –
Domaine Jean-Luc Burguet Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites 2023
Mes Favorite is the bigger of the village wines mostly located alongside the southern part of the village above the main road – near the Henri Richard estate. Quite deep clay soil that translates into a rich and generous village. Has a massale character and is elegant and refined. Slight reduction at tasting … but could also become a favorite here in the Winehog home.
(Drink From 2032) – Fine (91p) –
Domaine Jean-Luc Burguet Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 2023
Les Champeaux is a delicate vineyard located on the Brochon side of Gevrey just below Goulots. Lovely red fruit … nice salinity and an intense but lightfooted fruit. Very elegant and even on the sexy side. A hedonistic treat!
(Drink From 2035) – Very Fine (93-94p) –
