The 2016 Griotte Chambertin from Ponsot is a special wine. First and foremost this is the first vintage from the new Laurent Ponsot negotiant business and secondly this is rather a hedonistic bomb. The nose is crammed with sweet dark fruits – raspberries and mulberries – very rich and with a lovely note of cherries to spice the mineral notes. On the palate generous with a vivid and ripe fruit. This is clearly a fully ripe wine – with ample alcohol and a decadently sweet fruit. It’s however well balanced with a fine acidity and the fruit is very fresh and pure. This is a statement of nature … putting the new Ponsot estate on the map – .
