The Bistrot des Falaises had so far eluded me in the hills of Hautes Côte de Beaune … and what a miss.
In the centre of downtown Saint-Romain, we find this delightful countryside bistro. We chose to sit outside on the terrace overlooking the village and the beautiful landscape … what a graceful place with the quiet atmosphere of the hills.
Bistrot des Falaises serves modern French dishes … classic yet light and elegant with a slight asian touch. Very elegant servings … light … the palate is constantly delighted by the competent and effortless work of the kitchen. The combination with serving on the terrace in the sun seems almost unbeatable on this spring day.
The wine list is relatively small, with some very good producers like Cassiopée and Chantereves blessing the list of whites. You can get a good glass here at a reasonable price.
Go to the hills and enjoy the food and the peaceful vibe of Saint-Romain.

Dined here for lunch last November and was very impressed. First time for 4 of us from Australia with 2 Burgundian friends who know it well. Excellent food, great ambience, good wine list on the affordable side.
Highly recommended.
