Skyaasen is a new micro négociant located in the very core of Meursault. The estate was started 5 years ago by a Norwegian-American couple who moved to Burgundy in 2017.

I tasted a wine from Skyaasen at some good friends’ dinner, and decided to go there to taste, as the wine I tasted had some very unique qualities of delicacy and refinement.
Skyaasen – the Story
Skyaasen is the brainchild of Olivia and Joachim. Joachim grew up in Norway and Olivia in San Francisco, California. Their paths first crossed in Middlebury, Vermont, during their university studies. Joachim then worked in finance, and this took him to Switzerland and the UK, with Olivia’s work taking her to Senegal, South Sudan, the DRC, the UK, and Switzerland.
They moved to Burgundy in 2017 with the aim of making their own wines. Inspired by a longstanding love of Burgundian wines and a harvest spent in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Joachim left the finance industry to become a micro-producer (négociant) of Burgundy wines. After studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune, Joachim started Maison Skyaasen. They made their first vintage in the old cuverie and vaulted cellars of their home in Meursault in 2019.
When not working in the cellars or cuverie, Joachim can be found in the vines. Olivia currently works in human resource management in the region.
In other words, a very small and personal estate … with wines to match the dreams and ambitions.
Skyaasen – the wines
All Skyaasen’s wines seem to be very elegant and delicate … the whites are lovely and slightly decadent, while the reds are very silky and transparent. There are some truly unique qualities here.
Maison Skyaasen Aligoté 2024
The Aligoté is lovely and delicate and pure with a very crisp structure and midpalate … crisp but with a refined and soft feel. Very delicate.
(Drink from 2027) – Very Good – (88p) – ![]()
Maison Skyaasen Bouzeron Aligoté 2024
The relationship between the Winehog and Bouzeron is a love-hate thing, with the “Bouzeron” flavour sometimes shining through too much. This is a classic Bouzeron. Slightly reduced … but somehow, the Bouzeron note is kept down and reduced to a spicy flavour. Very nice balance …. deep and lovely fruit. Not bad … not bad at all.
