Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending two 67 Pall Mall events in Beaune. One was a beautiful Summer Party held in one of the beautiful gardens of Beaune.
Enjoying the sun while enduring the heat … not easy when temperatures are reaching 38 Celsius. The setting was beautiful, and the nice small servings were perfectly suitable for the temperature … as was the low dosage and fresh Champagnes. Very enjoyable couple of hours.
The second was a wine dinner at restaurant L`Epinette in the core of the old Beaune.
These dinners are often quite excessive … too much good wine and too little time to enjoy each wine. I brought a bottle of Guffens Saint-Véran Village “Premier Jus” 2022 … always out of order but strangely finds its place.
The lineup below shows the extent of my pain and joy … very good wines but many had only a small chance to be enjoyed properly.
The evening was, however, blessed by a lot of cheerful and lovely people. I ended up sitting between Douglas – Doug – Barzelay and Jasper Morris …. a very joyful group as the evening progressed – lots of old stories, opinions and gossip one would never see printed. Great talk with these very competent and delightful people.
Yes … I do not really condone the excessive opening of wine … 67 Pall Mall had, however, assembled a fine group of people to create a feeling of true generosity and genuine enjoyment. I really enjoyed these events, to be honest.
