In December, I was back at Domaine Ghislaine Barthod to taste the 2024s with Clément Boillot, who had prepared a small selection of the estate’s wines.
Clément Boillot has now taken over the winemaking at both the parents’ estates … Domaine Ghislaine Barthod and Domaine Louis Boillot. So a small tasting of two estates that are very closely related and produced by the same vigneron.

The wines
I have now tasted more wines from Clement, and it seems like there are two tendencies. Firstly, the style has been lightened a bit … not much … but enough to increase the delicacy and the transparency of the wines. In times of increasing global warming its always welcome to make lighter and more transparent wine.
The second tendency is that the Boillot wines are slowly but surely getting integrated into Clement’s style of wine, hence also the Ghislaine Barthod style. Actually, there is not really a big difference anymore… and I think it’s safe to say you should konsider to buy some Louis Boillot wines also …
The tasted wines
As mentioned, there is a larger and larger resemblance between the Ghisklaine Bathod wines and the Louis Boillot wines.
The wines are tasted at the Barthod estate in Chambolle … Ghislaine Barthod first and Louis Boillot afterwards.
First Ghislaine Barthod
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Bourgogne rouges 2024
The Bourgogne rouge is floral and forward. Lightfooted with a delightful fruit for 2024. Has good power … a nice wine in the making.
(Drink from 2026) –Very Good – (87p)
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 2024
The Chambolle is very fresh and delicate. Not super ripe … with a slightly tight note. A good wine for a dinner dish … not a summer vin de soif.
(Drink from 2029) –Very Good – (88p)
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny Beaux Bruin 2024
The Beaux Bruun is richer and more vivid. Lovely notes of cherries and other red fruits. Very charming and forward for a 2024 …

Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 2024
Theb Les Baudes is very sensual, delicate, and downright beautiful, Georgeos fruit and an airy feel. Can keep for 5 to 10 years, but it is already giving lots of pleasure.
