Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg, Echezeaux 2009

By Steen Öhman March 29, 2012 -

Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg is one of the gems in Vosne Romanee. The Echezeaux from Mugneret-Gibourg comes from two parcels: Les Rouges du Bas et Les Quartiers de Nuits, both with a deep soil consisting of gravel and silt. The 2009 vintage of the Echezeaux is a real beauty. The bouquet is showing …

Chateau Troplong Mondot 2008

By Steen Öhman March 28, 2012 -

Troplong Mondot is sadly the perfect example of what I like to call a solicitor wine. Very high alcohol - 14,5% in 2008. On the nose loads of toasted oak, coffee, liquorice. Layers of sweet fruit in the bouquet, still the alcohol is quite noticeable in the nose. On the palate big and lush with a lot …

Chateau La Mondotte 1998

By Steen Öhman March 27, 2012 -

The La Mondotte 1998 is a big and lush wine. The bouquet is quite open and crammed with ripe fruit. There is notes of dark berries, plum, liquorice, cherries, cedar and hints of pencil. On the palate very luch ripe fruit, it's opulent and almost thich with a good length and balance. It's a modern …

Prieure Roch, Nuits Saint Georges Clos de Corvees 2000

By Steen Öhman March 26, 2012 -

The Nuits-Saint-Georges Clos De Corvees is more or less the signature wine of Domaine Prieure Roch. The 2000 Clos de Corvees is now fully mature but very much alive. The bouquet is bursting with red fruits - strawberries and framboise - organic style. On the palate quite opulent lush pinot fruits, …

Domaine Bizot, Vosne Romanee 2009

By Steen Öhman March 25, 2012 -

Domaine Bizot is one of the rising stars in Burgundy. The Vosne Romanee Village 2009 is a real beauty. The bouquet is slightly dark and closed, but with fine Vosne spices and a hint of thyme. On the palate red fruits with some impression of oak. The fruit is very charming - almost organic - very …
