Yesterday I had a quick visit to Domaine Grivot to taste a bit of 2023 and 2024.
Mathilde Grivot was cheerful as the 2025 vintage is now in the cellar with a good yield as a result. I will return to taste the full 2024 vintage, and the visit was more casual talk to retaste some of the 2023s.

As mentioned, the big tasting of 2024 is just ahead, so we only tasted a few samples of this scarce vintage.
The 2024 vintage only produced 25-30% of a normal vintage, so very few bottles of 2024 were produced at Domaine Grivot.
I have tasted the 2024s before in other domaines, and it is sometimes a rather problematic vintage. I have, however, also tasted quite some interesting wines from 2024 …. so no need to be too pessimistic regarding this small and cool vintage.
2024 is not a hot vintage but rather a more classically styled harvest with some fine but also lesser wines compared to the rich vintages surrounding 2024.
The few samples of 2024 showed a good purity and balance in the Grivot wines, with a good density and intensity for the vintage. Delightful wines for medium-term drinking … and wines like Vosne Bossiéres and the Echezeaux have quite some charm and delicacy. I will taste the full range later … but this small taste was a good appetiser, Grivot did well in 2024.
Retasting a few but important 2023
The retaste af the 2023 was a treat, I really enjoy the 2023s from Grivot. The regular Vosne-Romanée 2023 shows lovely fruit and balance, a light but delightful glass.
(Drink From 2030) – Very Good (89p)
The Clos Vougeot 2023 is showing better and better … the Grivot Clos Vougeot has a lovely balance from almost 2 ha of vineyard in the big Clos.
(Drink From 2035) – Very Fine (94p) – ![]()
The Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 2023 show splendidly … and even better than from cask – has a lovely classical Beaux Monts feel … this is a great terroir.
(Drink From 2035) – Outstanding (94p) – ![]()
The Richebourg 2023 is the wine of the vintage …
