Gevrey Chambertin

Domaine Armand Rousseau, Laveaux Saint Jacques 2011

By Steen Öhman November 11, 2012 -

The Laveaux-Saint-Jacques 2011 from Rousseau is quite a big step up from the village Gevrey. In the bouquet lovely red fruit notes, with jellied elements of forrest strawberries, raspberries and cherries. Very charming nose with the beautiful sweet fruits and the crisp minerality. On the palate …

Domaine Armand Rousseau, Gevrey Chambertin 2011

By Steen Öhman November 11, 2012 -

The Gevrey Chambertin 2011 from Rousseau is a pure and refined village wine, with all the positive caracteristics of the 2011 vintage. In the nose fresh pinot aromas - raspberries and dark cherries with a lovely earthy minerality. On the palate good energy with quite intense pure and round pinot …

Domaine Ponsot, Griotte Chambertin 2002

By Steen Öhman October 18, 2012 -

The Griotte Chambertn from Ponsot is surprisingly backward and tannic. The bouquet is somewhat closed with notes of cherries, cherry stones, fennel and a slight hint of caramel. On the palate fine concentration, tight reletively dark fruit, and quite powerful tannins. Need at least 5 to 10 years …

Daniel Sanders, Gevrey Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1959

By Steen Öhman October 17, 2012 -

The Gevrey Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1959 from Daniel Sanders is in my view slightly over the hill. The bouquet is offering powerfull notes of sous bois, coffee, chocolate and caramel. On the palate elegant but slighly tired fruit with a quite forward alcohol and some sweet caramel notes coating …

Alfred Martin, Mazis Chambertin 1978

By Steen Öhman October 6, 2012 -

Old but still drinkable - the Mazis Chambertin 1978 from Alfred Martin is old, delicate and fragile but still worth tasting. In the bouquet raspberries, coffee, red currant and a slight orange peel. It's delicate with the finesse of a good terroir, but is lacking intensity. On the palate same story, …
