The Vosne Romanee Les Chaumes 1996 from Meo-Camuzet is a big rather rustic wine. In the nose red and dark fruit – slightly stewed and alcoholic. On the palate dense and rich with liquorice infused dark berry fruit. It’s quite intense but still somewhat backward and austere. In my view too extracted – lacking nerve and refinement. Will it improve with further cellaring – ?. Bottom line – A quite good wine – but not really desirable or charming.
