Vin d’émotion is seen by some as merely a marketing term, or a concept designed to promote a certain type of wine – or even the Winehog himself.
All are entitled to their view on this topic. That said, I encourage all Burgundy lovers to check out the vin d’émotion lists and test the qualities of the different wines – including ones with different styles and characteristics.
I know they are not easy to find, but if you’re enough of a geek, it is possible.
It’s essential to remember to enjoy and let the passion flow, just like the wines themselves, preferably in big stems!

Domaine Nicolas Faure 2021s
The wines from Nicolas Faure are all about hedonistic enjoyment. And while one can praise the big, hot vintages, the cooler ones give a more delicate, refined view of the wines. For example, 2014 and 2017 are not monumental wines (for reds), yet they have a floral airiness which is tremendous.
In 2021 as well, one finds some of these delicate, floral qualities that I enjoy and indulge in. Honestly, I love this.
Let’s taste!
The first of the red ’21s was the Coteaux Bourguignons Mes Gamays; as labelled, a gamay-based wine. This is the last cuvee from this vineyard, as the vines have been uprooted.
Domaine Nicolas Faure Coteaux Bourguignons Mes Gamays 2021
The Coteaux Bourguignons Mes Gamays is vivid and light-footed, underlining the cool delicacy of the 2021 vintage. It has the classic Faure vin d’émotion character, and pleases the palate with its finely grained tannins. Definitely a vin de soif, and a great pleasure for the ‘Hog. Who needs points when we get hedonistic pleasure?

- Visit to Domaine Nicolas Faure – Tasting the 2022s from CaskNicolas Faure’s wines are, for me, perfect examples of vins d’émotion. - Nicolas Faure Bourgogne Aligoté La Corvee de Bully 2014Another chance to drink and enjoy this great 2014 aligoté. Nicolas Faure’s Bourgogne Aligoté La Corvee de Bully 2014 is for me one of the very best aligotés, with its almost grand-cru-like intensity. The nose remains pure and vibrant, with delicate white orchard fruits, slight hints of anise, and lovely, intense, finely grained minerality. ...
