A rare guest in my glass – Haegelen-Jayer Clos de Vougeot V.V. The 2005 edition of this quite rare wine is big and somewhat rustic. The nose is packed with red and dark cherries, liquorice and even a hint of cassis. On the palate quite full bodied, with subble and rich fruit. A big wine with good length and power. The fruit seems slightly stewed .. and perhaps not as crisp and transparant as the best 2005s. Summing up .. a fine wine – need 10 years to unfold the potential, but is drinking quite well now.

The vineyards are the same, but the quality ...
- The 2026 hope and despairThe dry conditions and persistent burning sun are calling for a last-minute miracle of rain. For the vignerons, these are very enduring times… seeing the hope evaporating with the juice in the small grapes. Alexandrine Roy – one of my favorite vignerons – said this movingly well in her Facebook post Alexandrine Roy vigneron in Gevrey-Chambertin, August ...
- A lovely Daiquiri … the MoûtquiriMy local Italian restaurant “I Bravi Ragazzi” in Nuits-Saint-Georges, owned by Eva and Francesco, has a lovely Daiquiri variant with Moût as one of the sweetening elements … and this works very, very well indeed. I am not a great straight Negroni drinker … but this Daiquiri does have a more sensual twist … I do ...

These are wines that should be considered by all who love good Vosne wines. I am ...
