There is no reason to write several pages about the greatness of Jean-Marie Fourrier … he is plain, and simply one of the very best producers of red Burgundy … and I really mean VERY BEST!

I love the silky and elegant wines, the hedonistic joy you get from the wines – the lovely drinkability… not many wines show that well, almost regardless of time.
Visit to Domaine Jean-Marie Fourrier, March 18th 2026
We had a lovely tasting at Fourrier in late March, as his assistant took the time to give a lovely tasting of the Fourrier domaine wines. Please note that Fourrier also produce some very fine negociant wines.
The Fourrier estate is a large operation these days with quite a sizeable negociant business. All the wines are similar style-wise, yet there are some differences between the domaine and the negoce wines. In my view, it’s the smaller details that make the Domaine wines a bit sharper … but I will happily drink the negociant wines.

Notes from the tasting on March 18th, 2026
The 2024s tasted were all bottled and were tasted at the estate tasting room in Gevrey.
Domaine Fourrier Bourgogne Blanc 2023
The Bourgogne Blanc is open and vivid … quite intense and mouth-filling. A vin de soif and a lunch wine … does drink very well,

Domaine Fourrier Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes 2024
The Chambolle-Musigny has its fine notes of limestone minerality and red fruit. Vivid and vibrant. While it’s a Chambolle, it still shows the best sides of the Fourrier estate and the vintage. It’s light-footed, yet with very fine intensity and depth.

Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2024
The entry-level Gevrey is the Vieilles Vignes from vines with an average age of 60 years. Lovely depth for the vintage and the village level. The bouquet offers layers of red and dark berry fruit – quite vibrant and juicy with nice and filigreed minerality. On the palate, plenty of juicy fruit; generous with fine length and balance. Always a treat.
